INTRODUCTION
Mark 1:35 ‑ And in the early morning, while it was still dark, He [Jesus] arose and went out and departed to a lonely place, and was praying there.
Ps. 57:8 (LB) ‑ Rouse yourself, my soul! Arise, O harp and lyre! Let us greet the dawn with song!
2 Chron. 7:14 ‑ If My people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Zech. 4:6 ‑ Not by might nor by power, but by My spirit says the Lord.
1 Cor. 3:16 ‑ Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
James 5:16 ‑ The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
James 5:16 (KJV) ‑ The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Matt. 26:40‑41 ‑ You men could not keep watch with Me for one hour?
41 Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Ps. 22:3 ‑ Thou art holy, Thou art enthroned upon the praises of [Your people].
Ps. 100:1‑5 ‑ Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful singing.
3 Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name.
5 For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, And His faithfulness [endures] to all generations.
Matt. 6:9‑13 ‑ Pray, then, in this way; Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.]
OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN
Heb. 10:19 (LB) ‑ And so, dear brothers, now we may walk right into the very Holy of Holies where God is, because of the blood of Jesus.
Gal. 4:4‑7 ‑ When the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,
5 in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, Abba, Father!"
7 Therefore, you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir through God.
‑ The blood of Jesus was the agency by which God adopted us into His family, and because of that blood we can say "Our Father."
Gal. 3:26 ‑ For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
Rom. 8:14‑16 ‑ For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.
15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
‑ Jehovah is the true and eternal God, the One who is absolutely self‑existent; Who in Himself possesses eternal, permanent existence, and Who is unchangeable, Thou art the same.
Ps. 102:27 ‑ But Thou art the same, And Thy years will not come to an end.
HALLOWED BE THY NAME.
‑ God's name is YAHWEH (YHWH‑ Hebrew), Elohim (Creator‑God), Jehovah (Covenant‑God), El Shaddai (God Almighty), Adonai (Lord, Master), Father
Phil. 2:8‑11 ‑ And being found in appearance as a man, He [Jesus] humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
9 Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
‑ Because God, through Jesus Christ, established the NEW COVENANT, we can enjoy the 5 promises of the new covenant:
1. SIN: Forgiveness of sin and deliverance from sins dominion.
2. SPIRIT: The fullness of the Holy Spirit.
3. SOUNDNESS: The promise of health and healing.
4. SUCCESS: Freedom from the curse.
5. SECURITY: Freedom from the fear of death and hell.
‑ The eight compound names of God in the Old Testament correspond with the five benefits in the new covenant.
JEHOVAH‑TSIDKENU: "Jehovah our righteousness"
‑ Our sins ‑ past, present and future ‑ are all forgiven, and we are the righteousness of God in Christ.
Ps. 97:2 ‑ Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
Ps. 111:3 ‑ Splendid and majestic is His work; And His righteousness endures forever.
Rom 6:23 ‑ For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Cor 5:21 ‑ He [God] made Him [Christ] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Cor 5:21 (GN) ‑ Christ was without sin, but for our sake God made Him share our sin in order that in union with Him we might share the righteousness of God.
1 Pet. 3:18 ‑ For Christ died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.
Rom. 5:17‑19 (GN) ‑ Through the sin of one man [Adam] death began to rule because of that one man. But how much greater is the result of what was done by the one man, Jesus Christ! All who receive God's abundant grace and are freely put right with Him rule in life through Christ.
18 So then, as the one sin condemned all mankind, in the same way the one righteous act sets all mankind free and gives them life.
19 And just as all people were made sinners as the result of the disobedience of one man, in the same way they will all be put right with God as the result of the obedience of the one man.
1 John 1:7‑10 ‑ ...the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.
Phil. 3:9 ‑ That I may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith.
Rom 10:3‑4 ‑ For not knowing about God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Rom 1:16‑17 ‑ For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "But the righteous man shall live by faith."
Rom 5:9 ‑ Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.
Rom 5:9 (GN) ‑ By his sacrificial death we are now put right with God; how much more, then, will we be saved by him from God's anger.
Gal 1:4‑5 ‑ Jesus Christ gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
5 to whom be the glory forevermore. Amen.
Jer. 23:5‑6 ‑ "Behold, the days are coming", declares the Lord, "When I shall raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.
6 In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, 'The LORD our righteousness'."
JEHOVAH M'KADDESH: "Jehovah who sanctifies"
‑ To sanctify‑ to set apart or separate.
God's Holy Spirit indwells us and empowers us to live holy lives and to be spiritually and morally pure. The blood of Jesus not only takes away our sin; it breaks the power of sin in our lives'.
1 Thess. 4:3‑5,7‑8 ‑ For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality;
4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God;
7 For God has not called us for the purpose of impurity, but in sanctification.
8 Consequently, he who rejects this is not rejecting man, but the God who gives His Holy Spirit to you.
1 Thess. 5:23 ‑ Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Cor. 6:11 ‑ And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.
Rom. 6:17‑18 ‑ Thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,
18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
JEHOVAH SHALOM: "Jehovah is peace"
‑ "Peace" represents wholeness, and harmony with God and contentment and satisfaction in life. The blood of Jesus broke down the barrier of sin separating us from God, thus opening the way for us into the Holy of Holies‑ the very presence of God.
Heb. 10:19‑20 (LB) ‑ And so, dear brothers, now we may walk right into the very Holy of Holies where God is, because of the blood of Jesus.
20 This is the fresh, new, life‑giving way which Christ has opened up for us by tearing the curtain‑ his human body‑ to let us into the holy presence of God.
Is. 9:6 ‑ For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
Phil. 4:6‑8 ‑ Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence or anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.
Judg. 6:24 ‑ Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD and named it The LORD is Peace.
JEHOVAH SHAMMA: "Jehovah is there"
‑ A holy God dwells in the midst of His people. It is the promise of His presence.
1 Cor. 3:16‑17 ‑ Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy, and that is what you are.
‑ Because our sins are forgiven, we can be filled with the Holy Spirit.
Josh. 1:9 ‑ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
Ezek. 48:35 ‑ The city shall be 18,000 cubits round about; and the name of the city from that day shall be 'The LORD is there.'
JEHOVAH ROPHE: "Jehovah heals"
‑ Rophe‑ means to restore, cure, or heal, not only in the physical sense, but also in the spiritual and moral sense.
1 Pet. 2:24 ‑ He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by his wounds you were healed.
Is. 53:5 ‑ He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well‑being fell upon Him, And by His scourging we are healed.
Is. 53:5 (GN) ‑ Because of our sins, He was wounded, beaten because of the evil we did. We are healed by the punishment he suffered, made whole by the blows he received.
Matt. 8:17 (GN) ‑ He did all this to make come true what the prophet Isaiah had said, "He Himself took our sickness and carried away our diseases."
Ex. 15:26 ‑ And He said, "If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the LORD your God, and do what is right in His sight, and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the LORD, am your healer."
JEHOVAH JIREH: "Jehovah's provision shall be seen"
Gal. 3:10 ‑ "Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the Law, to perform them."
Rom. 8:1‑2 ‑ There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Gal 3:11,13‑14 ‑ Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, "The righteous man shall live by faith."
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us‑ for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree"‑
14 in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles so that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Gal. 3:29 ‑ And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to the promise.
Gen. 24:1 ‑ Abraham was old, advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in every way.
‑ The crown of thorns placed on Jesus' head, by the soldiers, symbolize the curse (Gen. 3:17‑18). Jesus bore the curse for us that we might inherit the blessings of Abraham. When the crown of thorns was pressed into His head, blood streamed down His face. He shed His blood to remove the curse of failure, frustration, futility, inferiority, and inadequacy.
Josh. 1:7‑9 ‑ Be strong and very courageous; be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may have success wherever you go.
8 This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success.
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
‑ Jesus redeemed me from the curse of the law of failure (morally, emotionally, financially, socially, spiritually, and physically). Abraham was blessed in all things‑ Jesus' blood gives us all these blessings. God has ordained me to succeed.
Phil. 4:13 ‑ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Rom 8:32 (LB) ‑ Since He did not spare even His own Son for us but gave him up for us all, won't he also surely give us everything else?
Gen 22:14 ‑ And Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, "In the mount of the Lord it will be provided."
JEHOVAH NISSI: "Jehovah my banner", my deliverer, my salvation
‑ Jesus gave us the victory and makes us conquerors. We no longer have to fear death and hell because Jesus Christ has conquered them for us.
Rom. 8:31,37 ‑ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
1 Cor. 15:57 ‑ Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Tim. 1:10 ‑ ...Our Savior Christ Jesus abolished death, and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.
2 Tim. 1:10 (LB) ‑ ...Our Savior Jesus Christ broke the power of death and showed us the way of everlasting life through trusting him.
Heb. 2:14‑15 ‑ Since then the children share in flesh and blood, he Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.
Heb. 2:14‑15 (LB) ‑ Since we, God's children, are human beings‑ made of flesh and blood‑ he became flesh and blood too by being born in human form; for only as a human being could he die and in dying break the power of the devil who had the power of death.
15 Only in that way could he deliver those who through fear of death have been living all their lives as slaves to constant dread.
Ex. 17:15 ‑ And Moses built an altar, and named it The LORD is My Banner.
JEHOVAH ROHI "Jehovah my shepherd", companion, friend
‑ We are free from death and hell because our sins were taken away at Calvary.
Ps. 23:1‑6 ‑ The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
5 Thou dost prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; Thou hast anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
1 Cor. 15:55‑57 ‑ "O Death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
56 The sting [cause] of death is sin, and the power [revealer] of sin is the law;
57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
John 10:27‑28 ‑ My sheep hear My voice, and I [Jesus] know them, and they follow Me.
28 and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.
THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
(a) YOURSELF
Rom. 14:17 ‑ The kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.
‑ The Kingdom of God is His presence. As Jesus rules in your heart, the Kingdom of God is manifested. Pray, "Let your righteousness, Your peace, and Your joy be in me today."
1 Cor. 4:20 ‑ For the kingdom of God does not consist in words, but in power.
‑ Pray over priorities God has set over your life. Pray for concerns of the day. Speak out priorities. Ask the Holy Spirit to empower you with abilities, efficiency, and might.
(b) YOUR FAMILY
‑ Pray over their needs. Pray that God's righteousness, peace, and joy will be in them. Pray for their salvation.
Neh. 4:14 ‑ Do not be afraid of them [the enemy], remember the Lord who is great and awesome and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Rom 10:1 ‑ Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.
(c) YOUR CHURCH
1. PASTOR
‑ Pray for God to anoint him, speak to him, and direct him. Pray that God gives him a shepherd's heart, will impart wisdom to him as he spends time in the Word and in prayer, and will make him a pure channel through which the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit can flow.
2. LEADERS
‑ Call and list leaders' names in prayer (home fellowship group leaders, assistants, deacons, ect.) Pray for a specific need if the Holy Spirit shows you something for someone.
‑ Pray that the Lord will make the various groups and organizations healthy and productive.
3. FAITHFULNESS
‑ Pray people will be faithful to their family (members of household), to the vision God has given your church, to Jesus, with their tithes, and to serve Jesus as Lord.
‑ Pray specifically for your disciples and members in your home fellowship group.
4. HARVEST
‑ Pray the Holy Spirit, like a divine magnet, will repel those who are not to become a part of your church and attract those who are, and that the Holy Spirit will draw people out of the north, south, east, and west.
Is. 43:5‑6 ‑ Do not fear, for I [God] am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, And gather you from the west.
6 I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' And to the south, 'Do not hold them back.' Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth.
Eph. 2:2 ‑ You formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
Eph. 2:2 (LB)‑ You went along with the crowd and were just like all the others, full of sin, obeying Satan, the mighty prince of the power of the air, who is at work right now in the hearts of those who are against the Lord.
‑ Powers and Principalities hold the reigns over certain areas. Speak to an area as a person. "North, you have people God wills to become a part of this church. I command you in the name of Jesus to release every person who is supposed to be in this church."
‑ "South, the will of God be done in you. Do not hold them back! I command you to release every person the Holy Spirit is drawing to become a part of this body."
‑ God has ordained people in these areas to be saved, planted, established, strengthened, and settled in your church.
‑ Pray in Jesus' name that God will dispatch angels to minister to the heirs of salvation, and that the Holy Spirit, the Lord of the harvest, will draw the people and plant them in the church.
Heb. 1:14 ‑ Are they [angels] not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation.
Heb. 1:14 (LB) ‑ The angels are only spirit‑messengers sent out to help and care for those who are to receive his salvation.
Matt. 9:37‑38 ‑ Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 Therefore beseech [ask] the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.
(d) NATION
‑ Pray leaders to have wisdom of God.
Prov. 8:15‑16 (GN) ‑ I [wisdom] help kings to govern and rulers to make good laws.
16 Every ruler on earth governs with wisdom's help, statesmen and noblemen alike.
‑ Pray spiritual leaders will walk in wisdom, be people of prayer, and be kept by the power of God.
‑ Pray specifically. Call leaders by name. Pray for revival, peace of Jerusalem, success of Israel, and for other nations' needs.
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD
James 1:25 ‑ But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man shall be blessed in what he does.
2 Thess. 3:10 ‑ ...If anyone will not work, neither let him eat.
Matt. 13:22 ‑ ...The worry of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Mal. 3:8‑12 ‑ "Will a man rob God? yet you are robbing Me! But you say, 'How have we robbed Thee?' In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!
10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the Lord of Hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven, and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
11 Then I will rebuke the devour for you, so that it may not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes," says the Lord of hosts.
12 "And all the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land," says the Lord of hosts.
1 Tim. 6:10 ‑ For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith, and pierced themselves with many a pang.
‑ If we cut off the root of all evil, then we will not bear the fruit of evil in our lives. Have a proper attitude toward money and giving.
Luke 6:38 ‑ Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour in your lap. For by your standard of measure it shall be measured to you in return.
Matt. 6:33 ‑ Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added to you.
Phil. 4:19 ‑ My God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
3 John 2 ‑ Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.
Matt. 7:7 (Amplified) ‑ Keep on asking and it will be given you; keep on seeking and you will find; keep on knocking and the door will be opened to you.
‑ If we are in the will of God, then after days of fruitless prayer, remember Daniel 10:12‑14:
Dan. 10:12‑14 ‑ Then he said to me, "Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words [requests] were heard, and I have come in response to your words.
13 But the prince [Evil Spirit] of the kingdom of Persia was withstanding [blocking] me for twenty‑one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief princes [of the heavenly army], came to help me [break through these spirit rulers of Persia], for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.
14 Now I have come...
AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE HAVE FORGIVEN OUR DEBTORS
Matt. 6:14‑15 ‑ For if you forgive men for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
15 But if you do not forgive men, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
Is. 59:1,2 ‑ Behold, the LORD's hand is not so short That it cannot save; neither is His ear so dull that it cannot hear.
2 But your iniquities [sins] have made a separation between you and your God. And your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear.
Ps. 51:10‑12 (KJV) ‑ Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
11 Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation, and uphold me with Thy free spirit.
Ps. 139:23,24 ‑ Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts;
24 And see if there be any hurtful [wicked] way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
Job 34:32 ‑ Teach Thou me what I do not see; If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more?
1 John 1:9 ‑ If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Rom. 8:1 ‑ There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Ps. 103:12 ‑ As far as east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
Matt. 5:44 ‑ But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who mistreat you.
Luke 6:27,28 ‑ But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
Gal. 5:22,23 ‑ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self‑control, against such things there is no law.
AND DO NOT LEAD US INTO TEMPTATION
‑ The devil is the tempter. The origin for temptations may vary. Some temptations or trials arise from within, from uncontrolled appetites and evil passions. Although temptation from within or from Satan does not proceed from God, He does observe His people while they endure it, and by the temptation tests and approves them.
‑ Some testings reveal our nature and help us realize our helplessness and dependence upon God. Other tests and trials teach us spiritual warfare. We experience some delays and trials in order that we might be increased or developed enough to prepare us for God's perfect will. Some trials purify us and perfect our faith. Other tests and trials enable the Lord to gain great victory over Satan. ONLY THOSE TESTING LEADING TO OUR ENLARGEMENT AND ENRICHMENT SHALL BE DIVINELY PERMITTED.
James 1:2‑4 ‑ Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials,
3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4 And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing.
James 1:12‑14 ‑ Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.
13 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil and He Himself does not tempt anyone.
14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
1 Cor. 10:13 ‑ No temptation has overtaken you but such is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.
‑ When Jesus commanded to pray, "Lead us not into temptation," He was instructing believers to pray that forces beyond their own control would not lead them into trials. He is also commanding believers to watch and pray against entering into temptation through their own carelessness or disobedience.
Ps. 119:9‑11 ‑ How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word.
10 With all my heart I have sought Thee; Do not let me wander from Thy commandments.
11 Thy word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against Thee.
Ps. 119:133,134 ‑ Establish my footsteps in Thy word, And do not let any iniquity have dominion over me.
134 Redeem me from the oppression of man, that I may keep Thy precepts.
Ps. 119:133,134 (LB) ‑ Guide me with your laws so that I will not be overcome by evil.
134 Rescue me from the oppression of evil men; then I can obey you.
BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL
‑ Putting on the whole armor of God is the application of Jesus in our daily lives.
Eph. 6:10‑18 ‑ Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.
11 Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,
15 and HAVING SHOD YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;
16 in addition to all, TAKING UP THE SHIELD OF FAITH with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil one.
17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, which is the word of God.
18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.
‑ Jesus is found in the believer‑ in you and in me. By putting on the whole armor of God, we actually implement His presence. Jesus wants to be our defense and to clothe us with Himself.
a. Loins girded with truth
‑ The loins are that part of the body between the ribs and the hipbones.
Ps. 51:6 ‑ Behold, Thou dost desire TRUTH in the innermost being, And in the hidden part Thou wilt make me know wisdom.
‑ Thy Word is truth. We must be filled with the Word of God.

‑ "Jesus, you are my truth. I praise you because I have truth reigning and ruling in my inward parts." Confess with your mouth that you are clothed with Jesus.
b. Breastplate of righteousness
2 Cor. 5:21 ‑ He [God] made Him [Jesus] who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
‑ "Jesus, you are my righteousness."
c. Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace

‑ "Jesus, you are my readiness."

Prov. 30:5 (KJV) ‑ Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Gal. 2:20 ‑ I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.
‑ "Jesus, you are my faith."
e. Helmet of salvation
Ps. 140:7 ‑ O God the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Heb. 5:9 ‑ And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation.
‑ "Jesus, you are my salvation."
f. Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God
Ps. 149:6 ‑ Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, And a two‑edged sword in their hand.
Heb. 4:12 ‑ For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two‑edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
John 1:14 ‑ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
‑ "Jesus, you are my Living Word."
BUILD A HEDGE OF PROTECTION

Ps. 91:9‑11,14 ‑ For [BECAUSE] you have made the LORD, my REFUGE, Even the Most High, your dwelling place [HABITATION]
10 No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.
11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways.
14 "BECAUSE he HAD LOVED ME [God], therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, BECAUSE he HAS KNOWN MY NAME."
‑ Make God your habitation (dwelling place) by walking with Him in the Spirit, praising and worshiping Him.
Ps. 22:3 (KJV) ‑ But thou art holy, O thou that INHABITS the praises of Israel [His people].
Eph. 5:18‑20 ‑ Do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
‑ Focus your energies and attention (set your love) upon the Lord.
Ps. 27:4 ‑ One thing I have asked [desired] from the LORD, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to meditate in His temple.
Matt. 22:37,38 ‑ And He [Jesus] said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.'
38 This is the great and foremost commandment.
‑ "I know Your name. You are my righteousness, sanctifier, peace, healer, provider, banner, and shepherd, and Your presence dwells within me." To know His name is to submit to His authority and Lordship.
Prov. 18:10 ‑ The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous runs into it and is safe.
FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY FOREVER
Heb. 13:15 ‑ Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
A. THE KINGDOM
Luke 12:32 ‑ Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.
Col. 1:12‑14 ‑ Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
13 For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,
14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
2 Tim. 4:18 ‑ The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

11 They shall speak of the glory of Thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power;
12 To make known to the sons of men Thy mighty acts, and the glory of the majesty of Thy kingdom.
13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, And Thy dominion endures throughout all generations.
Ps. 68:35 ‑ O God, Thou art awesome from Thy sanctuary [holy place]. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!

Acts 1:8 ‑ But you shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.
C. GLORY

Is. 42:8 ‑ "I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor My praise to graven images."
Heb. 2:9‑10 (GN) ‑ But we do see Jesus, who for a little while was made lower than the angels, so that through God's grace he should die for everyone. We see him now crowned with GLORY and honor because of the death he suffered.
10 It was only right that God, who creates and preserves all things, should make Jesus perfect through suffering, in order to bring many sons to share his GLORY. For Jesus is the one who leads them to salvation.
1 Thess. 2:12 ‑ [You are to] walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.
1 Chron. 29:10‑14 ‑ So David blessed the LORD in the sight of all the assembly; and David said, "Blessed art Thou, O LORD God of Israel our father, forever and ever.
11 "Thine, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Thine is the dominion, O LORD, and Thou dost exalt Thyself as head over all.
12 Both riches and honor come from Thee, and Thou dost rule over all, and in Thy hand is power and might; and it lies in Thy hand to make great, and to strengthen everyone.
13 Now therefore, our God, we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious name.
14 But who am I and who are my people that we should be able to offer as generously as this? For all things come from Thee, and from Thy hand we have given Thee."

Quotes from Dick Eastman:
To be effective our sixty minutes with God should be carefully arranged. Systematic prayer adds health to the devotional habit. Most tasks in life are accomplished systematically. In fact, without a systematic approach to life, many goals would remain unreached.
Be careful not to become a slave to any "prayer system." Indeed, prayer is not a system at all but the development of a relationship between man and God. The highest goal of the devotional habit is to strengthen this relationship... There is nothing wrong with developing a consistent, systematic habit of prayer, as long as we carefully "watch" that our praying remains truly spiritual.
Words from Doug Woolley:
Prayer is very important since it accomplishes two vital things: It changes you, and it changes the world around you. "One can put 1,000 to flight, but 2 can put 10,000 to flight." From my experience, it seems that most people do not actively participate in group prayer meetings (or their own individual prayer meetings) as much as they would like to (or ought to) because of basically two reasons:
1. A lack of will, desire, or motivation to pray, (and/or)
2. A lack of knowledge of what to pray.
Often, the second reason contributes to the first reason. Because of this fact, I hope to encourage you to study this Supplement to the Larry Lea Prayer Guide and to use it during your prayer times. You will be amazed at your spiritual growth as you allow the Holy Spirit to help you. May God's face shine upon you all.
